Mariott / Westin’s Frenchmans Reef Resort

The Marriott Beach Resort is a luxury resort perfect for vacationers wishing to indulge in their Caribbean getaway. This beach resort is perfect for your Caribbean honeymoon. Indulge in the best amenities on the island and the seclusion of a private beach right in front of your resort. Frenchman’s Reef & Morning Star Marriott Beach Resort is located on the southern part of the islands, adjacent to the one and only Virgin Islands National Park. The Marriott is conveniently located six miles from the airport, and three miles from downtown.

Mariott (Westin) Frenchman’s Reef Resort is scheduled to reopen in the Spring of 2023.

The location, as the photo illustrates, is spectacular – sitting on it’s own “point” on the island, making the views one of a kind.

Some years ago, when our children were pre-teens, we stayed at what then was called Marriot Frenchman’s Reef and Morningstar resort. It remains one of our most memorable vacations, including a day when we rented a powerboat and motored to St. John’s to spend the day snorkeling all around the island.

If Marriott / Westin stay true to their reputation (I don’t know of an instance where they haven’t) the re-launch will restore a favorite, somewhat upscale (fancy without being snooty or stuffy) family destination.

The following is from the Frenchman’s Reef website:

A brilliant beacon of the U.S. Virgin Islands, the all-new Frenchman’s Reef is perched high above the gleaming blue waters of the Caribbean Sea, boasting breathtaking views at every turn. Reimagined with an elevated sense of style inspired by the islands, we provide a world-class resort experience sure to enchant the entire family. Here, adventurers and leisure-seekers alike discover endless possibilities with inspired dining options, a luxurious full-service spa, exciting island excursions, and authentic experiences only possible in the USVI—an exotic tropical escape, with no passport needed.

Marriott’s original (pre-hurricane) resort offered nine venues in which you can dine and drink on the best tropical foods without ever leaving the resort. Apparently that lovely variety of options remains unchanged with nine new dining, drinking, snacking or coffee sipping venues.

Swim up to the pool bar and sip on a refreshing drink as you watch the sun set over the picturesque Charlotte Amalie Harbour.

The resort featured four pools, a spa, fitness facilities, and endless island activities. As best I can tell there are at least two pools to enjoy at the renovated hotel.

Back in the day guests could enjoy the classic island activities such as jet skiing, kayaking, sailing, scuba diving, snorkeling, tennis, volleyball, water skiing, and more, all located right in front of the resort’s private and immaculate beach. It’s not yet clear, but likely, that similar activities will again emege either at or nearby the resort.
