Petroglyphs are rock engravings of images that are created by removing part of a rock surface by pecking, carving, and abrading a rock until the desired image is created. The Petroglyphs Trail lies within the Reef Bay trail, a trail about five miles outside of Cruz Bay located on Route 10. This trail is in an area known as the “Petroglyph Falls” due to the small waterfalls and streams that surround these historic carvings. The Petroglyphs Trail is covered by shade from the native plants and trees, and allows for a scenic tour of St. Johns picturesque landscape and historical carvings.
