The Westin St. John Resort and Villas is spread over 47 acres of tropical paradise, facing the Great Cruz Bay, and includes a considerable stretch of coastline with a forest of palm trees and a sea of coral reefs.
The resort is located 20 miles from the airport, so “plan to enjoy” an extended scenic tour of the island as you drive to the resort.
The Westin Resort and Villas provides an array of rooms and suites, spread out across the 47 acres.
The resort property was once operated as a hotel the included inland villas operated as timeshares. In 2018, Marriott Vacations acquired ILG, the parent of the Westin Vacation Club, and all units on the Westin St. John property were converted to timeshares.
Staying at any resort that consists of timeshares can impact your plans or expectations when you attempt to book a specific villa or villa type as a “transient guest”, someone who is not a timeshare owner. Unless specified in the resorts booking terms you, as a non-owner, are not actually reserving a specific type of unit but rather you are requesting such a unit / villa – should it not be claimed at a later date by a timeshare owner. At the time of booking the reservation system should verify that there exists some specified units that are not already claimed during your specified dates. However, the reservation system will not block out any specific type of unit for your stay.
Since many timeshare resorts are booked upwards of 90% capacity all year-round it’s not unlikely that an expected or requested unit layout will not await you upon arrival. Plan accordingly. Communicate your expectations clearly and in writing. Wherever and whenever possible seek written confirmation of any promises, representations or offers. Lastly, when visiting paradise or staying at an idyllic setting keep in mind that you will likely only be resting your head and showering at your rental unit. If it’s less than ideal stay focused on what matters: enjoying the beauty that surrounds you and your family.
The prime bay location of The Westin St. John Resort allows for an endless amount of water activities. Scuba dive, swim and snorkel right in front of the hotel, or try out kayaking, rent a powerboat, or take a guided sport fishing trip or sunset cruise.
Once you’ve had all you can handle of water sports, enjoy an adult beverage while laying out by the pool or visit the spa. If you have the enery for it play a light game of tennis on one of the four lighted tennis courts.
